Annual Business Meeting
All members, ‘stake holders’, and friends of
Calvary invited to the annual business meeting on
Saturday, February 4th. Plan now to
join us for a luncheon buffet at Noon and
stay for the meeting at 1 PM. At the
business meeting, we will hear the reports of
ministry leaders, the financial officers and the
pastor; we will vote on the 2012 budget and elective
slate of committees, officers and boards; and we
will pray and prepare for the work ahead of us.
Please call the church office if you would like more
information about this important event in the life
of the church.
Serving Our Community
During
the month of February, in conjunction with Starlight
Ministries (Emmanuel Gospel Center’s ministry
to the homeless), we will be collecting clothing
donations. Rev. Brian Guerin, Director or
Starlight, is asking for men’s underwear (NEW),
men’s athletic socks (NEW), men’s shirts, coats,
gloves and mittens. These are the resources most
requested and most needed by those living on the
streets. Please bring any donations to the church
and place them in the boxes in the foyer marked
STARLIGHT MINISTRIES.
Area Prayer Walk
Every month, we get together to walk and pray
(either silently or aloud) over our neighborhood and
we’d love it if you’d join us. Our next prayer walk
will be held Monday, February 6th, at
10 AM. All are invited to join us in exercising
both body and soul.
Gathering for Prayer
An important aspect of Christian community is
intercession, and the Scriptures tell us to pray for
each other (James 5:16). Join Pastor Mike and
others in the church family every Wednesday at
7:00 PM as we reach up to heaven in response to
the needs of the church and her neighbors. If
you have a need you would like lifted by God’s
people, fill out the back of the response tab of any
Sunday morning’s worship folder and hand it to an
usher, call the church offices at (617) 825-7832 or
e-mail the pastor at calbapt@msn.com.
Join Us for Sunday School
Everyone is encouraged to be part of Sunday School
every Sunday morning at 9:30 AM. This year’s
theme will be The G.O.D. Squad: Boots on the
Ground. Classes for all age groups gather
weekly and the entire ministry meets monthly to
explore God’s Word and grow in faith.
The following classes are available:
Early Elementary – Red Carpet Room
Older Elementary – Axberg Hall
Teens – Conference Room
Adults – Parlor
Bi-weekly Men’s Meetings
All men are invited to meet with the “guys” every
other Tuesday (this month on February 7th
and 21st) at 7 PM as we continue the
Bible study 1 Timothy and Titus – Fighting the
Good Fight. In a culture where the beliefs
of the individual are given final authority, we are
calling men to be challenged to carry on the battle
for the truth of the Bible. Talk to Pastor Mike if
you have questions or want more information.
Youth Group
Join teens from a number of Bible-believing churches
for a time of celebration, challenge, creativity and
connection every other Friday night at 7 PM
at Evangelical Congregational Church of Atlantic
(136 Sagamore St, N. Quincy).
The
next meetings are Friday, February 10th
and 24th, and everyone 12 and
older is invited to attend. Contact the church
office if you need further information.
Childcare Ministers Are Needed
Each Sunday we provide nursery/child care for those
under 6 so that parents can participate in worship.
We are seeking volunteers who would be willing to
commit 30 minutes of compassion to our youngest
attendees – please sign up on the roster found in
the foyer.
4th Friday Fun Night
This month’s program for children ages 3-12 is a
Universal Birthday Party – a night where we will
celebrate everyone’s birthday! All the kids are
encouraged to come out to the church on Friday,
February 24th, at 7:00 PM for 90
minutes of fun with games, snacks, biblical
teachings, singing, crafts and other surprises.
New Women’s Bible Study is Coming in March
James: Mercy Triumphs
by Beth Moore provides a personal study experience
five days a week plus viewer guides for the 8 video
sessions of this in-depth women's Bible study.
James, Jesus' own brother, started out as a
skeptic. See how one glimpse of the resurrected
Savior turned an unbeliever into a disciple. Bible
scholars compare James to the prophet Amos. In
other ways, James more closely resembles the Book of
Proverbs than any other New Testament book. Topics
in this study include: joy, hardship, faith,
reversal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom,
gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of
the tongue, humility, and prayer. Contact Jeanine
Ferrini if you are interested in more information.
